About the
School
An-Noor
Private School was established in 1995. It was housed at the An-Noor
Mosque site between Dominion Road and Northwood Avenue. It moved to 1480
Janette Avenue in 2000. Its enrolment ranges between 250 300
students. An-Noor Private School caters for Junior Kindergarten to 8th
grade. The school is purpose built. It has a gymnasium with a stage. It
also has a library and computer suite.
Aims and
Objectives: An-Noor
Private School actively undertakes to ensure the highest standards of
educational achievement by providing the Ontario Curriculum alongside an
Islamic worldview.
Ethos: An-Noor Private
School is an Islamic school. Its primary goals include creating an
atmosphere of safety and security. We seek to make students happy and
thankful. An-Noor Private School also promotes equality for all people,
respect for all faiths, and respect for the environment. An-Noor Private
School promotes living through the observance of the Pillars of Islam on
a daily basis.

English: The structure of the lesson is divided
into shared reading or writing, followed by focused word or sentence
level work. Students then engage in independent activity. The period ends
with a plenary session. English homework is given on Tuesdays, and
Thursdays. The Reading Club meets after school on Wednedays. The Drama
Club meets on Thursdays.
Math: Lessons begin with mental and oral
activity for 5 minutes to develop and improve oral and mental skills. The
main lesson is delivered for 30
40 minutes followed by a plenary session. Math homework is set on
Mondays and Wednesdays. The Numeracy Club is held on Fridays. Students
play numeracy games.
Science: Students do a
variety of hands-on experimental activities accompanied with field trips.
All students participate in the Science Fair. Mad Science is offered after school on
Tuesdays.
Information
and Communication Technology: Awareness of computer science
prepares our students for life in a rapidly changing technological world.
Students will use tools to explore, find, analyse, exchange and present
information. Students become familiar with hardware and software and
develop their creativity.

Music: Students sing
Islamic songs and learn to train their voices to be melodious and
inspirational. They experiment with percussion instruments in keeping
with the guidelines of the Sunnah. Nasheed Club is held on Fridays at
second recess.
